June 2010

Greetings from Virginia,

We have some exciting news to share! God has given us a special opportunity and has opened the doors for us to serve as short-term missionaries in Lesotho, Africa.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has a 3 month opening for a short-term aircraft mechanic in Lesotho, and has contacted Philip to fill this need. Philip will be helping with the maintenance of the MAF fleet of aircraft. While Dana will be caring for our boys, she is planning to also volunteer in some of the local medical clinics.

Let us also update you as to what's been happening in our lives. Philip is still working with Dynamic Aviation, as a supervisor in the maintenance department, and Dana is working as an RN in the Emergency Room at Rockingham Memorial Hosptial. Elijah is 18 months old and Tanner is 4 months old.

Lesotho is located on the southern tip of the continent, and is landlocked by the country of South Africa. It is a very poor, mountainous area, mostly populated by small, remote villages. MAF provides safe and efficient transport for medical professionals and mission organizations, such as Flying Doctors and Samaritan's Purse. Through MAF's fleet of six Cessna T206 single engine aircraft, using 22 dirt airstrips around the country, the people of Lesotho are provided with care for their medical and spiritual needs. Without the efforts of MAF, many of these people would not have adequate medical attention and never would have heard the gospel.

We feel that God has given us this opportunity, and we must have His help for this venture to be successful. Please partner with us in prayer that God will use us to be a blessing as we work. We will be departing the U.S. in late October 2010 and returning late January 2011.

We would ask for your partnership in another way as well. Because MAF is a missionary organization, we must raise our own support. We need to raise approximately $11,000, which includes the purchase of plane tickets, cost of living in Africa, medical coverage, shipping, and a host of other details. We are praying for 110 people to give $100.00 towards this need. Your donation to MAF on our behalf is tax-deductible. Any financial support in excess of our needs will be used to support MAF programs.

If you feel led to support us financially, you may send your donations directly to MAF, or directly to us.

We will be doing our best to keep everyone updated here on our blog.

We appreciate your prayers and support!

In His name,

Philip, Dana, Elijah and Tanner
